“Benny” stands for Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, and New York—a term used by Jersey Shore locals to refer to annoying tourists. Written by Hannah Doherty and Laurel Walls, “Benny” reflects the realities of life at the shore and the interactions with these visitors. Our version is a coming-of-age proof of concept, centered around complex family relationships, the journey of growing up, and young love.
